Mickey 17 is a poorly written film with no real, meaningful main story. Although Mickey himself is well-written and complex, the supporting cast (besides Naomi and Steven) was underdeveloped. The "main" story is intertwined with a shameful display of political commentary that tries desparately to be the top player, and very obviously attempts to negatively portray a certain prominent politician. Additionally, This film shoehorns in unnecessary sex scenes that add little. Much of the acting throughout this film feels very rehearsed, flat, and unemotional. While the film does a decent job at getting laughs, and Robert Patterson is amazing, Mickey 17 falls flat as something worse than bad: boring and unoriginal.
